Vintage Kenneth Jay Lane/KJL Jewelry
Another of my favorite costume jewelry designers is Kenneth Jay Lane. I prefer the older 1960s designs to the newer ones, although some of the same designs are still produced or revived from time to time.
Some of the designs below were created for Avon and are very nicely made. These we had available in our collection. A few are available now for sale. If you have any interest on any of them, please leave a comment and we will reply.
Sampling of Miriam Haskell Jewelry
Here is a brief sampling of favorite unusual jewelry designs by Miriam Haskell. Her intricate seed bead designs are known the world over and highly collectible.
Some of the pieces are unsigned but have all the characteristics for an early Miriam Haskell design.
The most common problem found in vintage Miriam Haskell jewelry is the presence of verdigris, the green patina that seems to love brass. Since so many of her designs were done on plated or unplated brass, this is something you must take into consideration when shopping. Miriam Haskell jewelry seems prone to patina and one thing I have noticed over the years is that verdigris is started close to the pearls. Perhaps the material used to coat the glass with the pearlescence causes it or speeds up the process.
